Kasuvine
16.5x13 White Pencil on Black Board
$3,000
Under the hot mid-day sun, a Himba woman named Kasuvire, (Ka-sue-vir-a) meaning God does not sleep, traveled by foot into Opowo (O-poo-voo) to pick up necessities for her family. It may have taken her a day or more to walk to this neighboring town. The goat skin headdress indicates she is married. The blanket tied around her chest secures an infant to her back who’s nestled under the shade of her hair.
