"Stronghearts" is the first in a trilogy depicting the famed Stronghearts Society and its members. This bronze represents a Lakota wife of a Stronghearts Society member. This strong woman, who, with her children, are the surviving members of his family. The warrior was killed while protecting the family and the tribe. In Stronghearts, the woman is being honored by the tribe for her husbands courage and honor. In the masterwork and maquette sizes, she is holding her husbands spear. Her children are with her, one on a cradle board on her back and the other standing at her side.
